Vojtech Rodl to give invited plenary lecture at the International Congress of Mathematicians 2014.
$news$	Published Date: 2013-09-09 Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor Vojtech Rodl has been invited to deliver a plenary address at the International Congress of Mathematics (ICM) in Seoul, Korea in August 2014. Dr. Rodl has previously given a regular invited address at ICM 1990 in Kyoto, Japan. It was already an honor, but being invited to give a plenary address is more so: only about 20 mathematics are selected to give an address at each quadrennial conference. The ICM is the largest conference of mathematics and is hosted by the International Mathematical Union. The most prestigious recognitions, including the Fields Medal, are awarded at this event, in which the most important research contributions are presented by leading mathematicians. Dr. Rodl joins Dr. Raman Parimala who has given both an invited talk (ICM 1994, Zurich) and plenary talk (ICM 2010 Hyderabad) and Dr. Suresh Venapally who gave an invited talk at ICM 2010.

Ken Ono stars in docudrama on an Indian mathematician

Published Date: 2013-02-19 Dr. Veneziani will give a Maymester Course this Summer entitled "Partial Differential Equations in Action: from medical images to numerical simulations". The course will be held from May 14 to 31 and will introduce motivated students to Partial Differential Equations from a practical standpoint. The reference application will be given by cardiovascular physiology and pathology quantitatively analyzed by solving partial differential equations for blood flow and electrocardiology. The course includes lectures from Dr. Samady (CathLab - Emory Hospital), Dr. Tong (Neurosurgery) and visits to the Emory SPECT and MRI facilities (Dr. Garcia and Oshinski).
