The Georgia Scientific Computing Symposium (GSCS) is a forum for professors,
postdocs, graduate students and other researchers in Georgia to meet
in an informal setting, to exchange ideas, and to highlight local
scientific computing research. The symposium has been held every year
since 2009 and is open to the entire research community. This year,
the symposium will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Emory University.
The format of the day-long symposium is a set of invited
presentations, poster sessions and a poster blitz, and plenty of time
to network with other attendees. See below for a schedule.

Poster Session:
Poster sessions will be held during lunch and during the afternoon
break. Anyone can present a poster, but we especially encourage
graduate students and postdocs to use this opportunity to advertise
their work. Please provide a poster title when you register. Posters
should be set up at 9:30 am, and we will also have a Poster Blitz at
11:40 am. In the Poster Blitz, each poster presenter will have 1
minute to present 1 slide to describe his/her poster. (We will contact
you to get your slide beforehand.)
Easels will be provided for displaying the posters. We also have
poster-boards and push-pins if your poster does not have a hard
back. The poster-boards are 30x40 inches and can be used in any
orientation with the easels.

Reception (updated):
A GSCS tradition is to have a group dinner at 6 pm after the symposium at
a local restaurant. However, this year we plan to instead have a reception
following the last talk, until 8:00 pm. The reception is free to all registered
participants.
- Location and Venue:
-
The symposium will be held
in the
Mathematics and Science Center,
Emory University. Registration, posters, and coffee
breaks will be in the 2nd floor atrium.

Maps and directions can be
found
here,
and visitor parking information
here.
The Oxford Road Deck is most convenient, as it is right next to the Mathematics and Science Center.
It should have plenty of spaces on Saturday, but if it is full,
then the next closest is the Peavine Visitor Parking Lot.
